the journey from here to beyond

It's a little ironic how I have chosen a year where the SINGER brand is celebrating its 160th anniversary to begin my journey into fashion design. This area of my blog will be dedicated to my journey and any inspiration that I come across along the way. I begin my journey this Wednesday night. I am very excited to begin this chapter in my life. My love for fashion has definitely exceeded a super high from beginning my blog in 2010. From watching occurring  trends hit our doorsteps - the door step to the fashionista's and constantly thinking how much you would like to enter that trendsetter hierarchy with your thoughts, inspirations and dreams, it's a bit surreal to think that this dream is about to come true.

A lot of my inspiration has come from a friend that is beginning her new label; Be Bitko. Her thoughts behind her concept for her designs have inspired me in the sense that anything is possible. From one thought to another, from one person to another, she has encapsulated what fashion is all about. It is about sharing your thoughts on fashion as well as how to express those thoughts in what you wear. It is also about creating designs that are versatile and are a staple for every woman's wardrobe. Something that easily incorporated into any wardrobe and worn with numerous outfits.

I will be creating a diary of my journey to creating my own designs.

fashion must have; the peter pan collar for 2012

Its hard to follow trends when one minute something is in and the next they are out. The boyfriend button up shirt was a hit with the ladies and now one trend that’s excites me is the Peter Pan Collar. The peter pan collar is a soft, round cornered collar that was very popular among young children and women during the early 1900s. If you saw in 2011, many fashionista’s, Alexa Chung, just to name a few were seen sporting collars on outings, photo-shoots & events. Since its resurgence the sweet trend has been a hit and should become a wardrobe staple for the fashion enthusiasts out there.
